As I drove home from the lovely memorial today, I thought of sharing my memories and am grateful to have this space to do that. As I drove by the sleeping Giant it reminded me of how we shared a great love of life's beauty. When I first met Marla, it was clear we were kindred spirits. We shared a love of the simple things that touched our hearts and soul, like gardening, music, sunshine and family. We even had similar childhood experiences. We enjoyed some fun times going to clubs dancing in the early days and taking the kids to the beach. Once new relationships were made and the kids were a little older, our relationship became distant. I missed the closeness we once had, but because of family was still able to have some holiday, school events, little league, graduations, birthdays, etc. time with her. And then came the grandkids which was an indescribable joy to share, driving them back and forth to make sure they could have time with everyone. I am grateful for her beautiful influence on all of our kids and all who's lives she's touched. May we carry on her loving ways and be the example for others that she was for us.
